McBush or a true Maverick?

If McCain is a maverick, why is Bush taking Palin to the U.N? I know "why", to make her look presidential and appear to miraculously have foreign policy experience. But doesn't it also come back to haunt McCain...Bush is taking Palin...McCain and Bush again working hand in hand?
