Is this different from Narnia?

At first when I read this, I read it wrong, but reading it again, it sounds like a great idea. Keep in mind similar plots have been done before, so you need to tread carefully to not p the line and do something cliche. Anyway, are these magical countries populated with ordinary humans or magical beings? Because that could make or kill the story. Don't worry, it isn't like Narnia.
